Grizzlython: The Seventh Solana Hackathon with $5M in Prizes and Seed Funding

The Solana Foundation has announced Grizzlython, a global online Solana hackathon with $5 million in prizes and seed funding. The competition, the seventh Solana hackathon, will run from February 2 to March 14 and is open to builders from all over the world.

Solana hackathons allow members of the Solana community to bring their ideas to life and get them to market. The previous Solana hackathon, Solana Summer Camp, saw nearly 18,000 participants submit 750 projects, which collectively raised over $600 million in venture funding. Grizzlython offers builders the opportunity to kickstart their projects and turn them into growing, fundable companies.

Grizzlython will feature a full slate of programming, including office hours with the Solana Foundation Developer Relations Team, Solana Hacker Houses in Istanbul and Melbourne, Twitter spaces, Twitch streams, and more. Builders will also be able to meet in-person at community-run coworking spaces in cities such as Singapore, Berlin, Salt Lake City, Ho Chi Minh City, Bangalore, Delhi, and Melbourne.

The competition will have prizes across seven different tracks: Mobile, DeFi, Payments, Web3 Consumer, Tools + Infrastructure, Gaming, and DAOs + Network States. In addition to the Grand Champion, there will be five prizes for each track, the University Award for the best student team, and the Climate Award for green and climate-friendly projects.

The Grand Champion will receive $50,000 USDC, three passes to Breakpoint 2023, and the opportunity to present their project to the greater Solana community. Prizes for the other tracks will range from $30,000 USDC to $10,000 USDC. All prize winners will have the opportunity to present their project to potential investors at an exclusive Demo Day.
